A note from Kyle Moore, CFP®

May 2nd marks our eighth firm anniversary here at Quarry Hill. We were registered as a firm on May 2nd, 2017. I remember prior to that giving Bjorn Amundson a phone call asking him what he thought of what I was about to do, and he said, "What? You'd be crazy to leave the firm that you're with right now."

I'm glad I didn't listen to him. And I like to remind him about that phone call since things have come full circle and he's now my partner here.

Humble Beginnings

Thinking back, I remember launching our website and finding that a discovery call had been booked the next day. I was so excited! I didn't know where any clients were going to actually come from.

I showed up in my office and realized, "Oh shoot, I don't have any furniture." My whole office was blank, nothing on the walls. There were just two chairs I brought from home so we could at least sit together.

And in walks my first prospect, a self-described “psychic witch” whose primary concern was my zodiac sign. It proved to be a very uncomfortable and awkward conversation. After she left, I just sat there by myself wondering, "What did I just get myself into?"

To add to my concerns, I soon discovered someone had been murdered in the building a year before. I thought, "Oh my goodness. How did I not check on this? Nobody is going to want to work with me now.”

And yet many of you still did!

Thank You for Eight Incredible Years

Many of you probably remember that small office in Cathedral Hill. And many of you who are clients of Bjorn's have followed him from Ameriprise to RBC to now here at Quarry Hill.

We wouldn't be here, we wouldn't have the firm that we have today, without you. I want to take a moment to just thank you so much for all of your support, for believing in us, even when I was just in a little teeny office with nothing on the walls.

It's because of you that we're here right now, having the privilege of serving over 200 wonderful families and managing more than $300 million of your wealth. We have such fantastic families who trust us with some of their biggest life decisions.

So thank you so much! I hope you can celebrate these eight years with us, and here's to the next eight years!
